Overview
A primitive campground with surprisingly appealing amenities, Salmon Meadows was opened by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937 and provides a memorable destination for hiking, camping, and horseback riding deep in the heart of the Okanogan backcountry.
14 campsites are located here and are open from May 15 - October 15.
NOTES
Check out the picnic gazebo and registration booth, both of which were built by the CCC over eighty years ago.
Description
This network of multi-use trails provides easy to moderate terrain for hiking, running, horseback riding, ATV, and motorcycle riding. The Angel Pass Trail is a moderate 1.3 mile hike with an 800’ elevation gain while the Muckamuck Trail provides 4.4 miles of “delightful backcountry trekking” with a 1125’ elevation gain and camping opportunities with a campground fee.
Driving Directions:
From the small town of Conconully, drive north on County Road #2361 to where it becomes USFS Road #38 then continue for another 9 miles to the entrance of the campground.
