Bonaparte Lake

Provided by: Okanogan Country

You will drive east on Highway 20 out of Tonasket a ways before you see the signs that lead to Bonaparte Lake.  It is well worth the trip. Many have driven up here just to have the resort’s breakfast or their famous steak dinner.   Bonaparte is a very scenic lake and has some very special fishing opportunities.  There are big triploided eastern brook and tiger trout in the lake, and some very large lake trout.  Kokanee range in size from 10 to 12 inches and are plentiful.  Smallmouth bass are abundant in Bonaparte and anglers are encouraged to take their limits to reduce their numbers.  There is also a lead ban (no lead weights or jigs) in effect on Bonaparte.  There is a Forest Service campground on the lake, and a resort that offers camping, cabins and a boat launch.
