Lookout Mountain Trail

A not to be missed 3.0 mile hike (round trip) with an 1100’ elevation gain to an abandoned USFS lookout perched atop one of the most commanding hilltops in the Methow. Bring adequate water, sunblock, a windshirt, and appropriate footwear.Hike uphill over moderately steep terrain through lush forest and open meadows to easier walking, an historic tower, and panoramic views of the Sawtooth, North Cascades, and Pasayten mountain ranges.Total elevation gain is approximately 1200’ but the view from the tower is worth every foot of it.
