Just up the road from the town of Brewster Rat Lake is a local favorite. It has a split season. From April to November it is a catch and release lake with barbless hooks and no bait allowed. From December 1st through March 31st you can keep what you catch without hook and bait restrictions. The trout fishing here is excellent with some very large rainbow showing up in catches. It is also one of the better ice fishing lakes in the Okanogan. No internal combustion motors are allowed so it is a favorite in the catch and release season with fly anglers, who have a float tube or pontoon boat. Large streamers or Wooly Buggers work well here for fly fishers, and trolled spinners or plugs, like Flatfish are good bets for those who row or have an electric motor.
