Farmers Market Season!

Farmers Market Season is HERE!

There’s something magical about farmers market season. The smell of fresh-cut flowers, the crunch of just-picked produce, the hum of neighbors chatting over baskets of greens—it’s a sensory celebration of spring, and it’s finally here.
After a long winter, farmers markets in Okanogan Country are setting up their tents and welcoming shoppers back for another season of local abundance. Whether you’re a market regular or checking it out for the first time, this is the perfect time to reconnect with your community, support small farms, and fill your bags with the best of what’s in season.
Farmers markets aren’t just about food—they’re about relationships. When you buy directly from a grower, you’re not just getting fresher ingredients; you’re also getting a connection to the land, the seasons, and the people who care for both. These markets give small farms a place to thrive and allow communities to keep their food dollars close to home. Plus, it’s hard to beat the taste of produce that was harvested that morning!
Smallwood Farms, a cherished fourth-generation family farm in Okanogan, Washington, is set to reopen its beloved fruit stand on May 1. Founded by G.A. and Jean Smallwood, the farm has been nurtured by their descendants, Dennis and Mallory Carlton, who continue the tradition of providing fresh, high-quality produce and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.?
The fruit stand offers a delightful array of farm-grown fruits and vegetables, complemented by a variety of specialty items. Visitors can find local raw and creamed honey, an assortment of jams, jellies, fruit butters, and syrups, as well as salsas, sauces, and pickled products.
In addition to the fruit stand, Smallwood Farms boasts a kitchen that serves breakfast and lunch, emphasizing fresh, local ingredients. Guests can enjoy meals on the outdoor deck, taking in the scenic views while savoring dishes made with cage-free eggs, real Washington potatoes, and house-made bread.
