lookout Mountain Trail
Twisp, Wa
Overview
This not to be missed 3.0 mile hike (round trip) has an 1100' elevation gain taking you to an abandoned USFS lookout perched atop one of the most commanding hilltops in the Methow. Remember to bring enough water, sunblock, a wind-shirt, and appropriate footwear.
Description
The Lookout Mountain Trail starts with moderately steep terrain in a lush forest a mile in, you will be rewarded with an easier climb and glorious views. The trail then leads to a historic tower with panoramic views of the Sawtooth, North Cascades, and Pasayten mountain ranges. Total elevation gain is approximately 1200' but the view from the tower is worth every foot of it.
Notes
Look for Mt. Baker to the northeast.
