Rainy lake Trail
Mazama, Wa
Overview
With its first sprinkle of snow and larches in full flame, Rainy Lake is an easy hike in a spectacular setting. Starting out in a well established parking area, a wheelchair accessible asphalt path leads approximately one mile through old growth forest to the shore of a stunning alpine tarn set in a granite-walled basin with a two-tiered waterfall.
Description
Follow the paved, well-marked path (bumpy in places) for approximately 1 mile through a cedar and fir forest to the shores of beautiful Rainy Lake and its surrounding alpine cirque. A return trip via the same path (2 miles round trip) lets you study the dense, lush remains of this appropriately named destination.
Notes
Check out the gorgeous water fall on the rock wall at the head of the lake! |
